Our brain rely on information processes at various spatial scales from a microscale of chemical transmitters to a macroscale of brain regions. Unfortunately, how the different scale systems efficiently work together is not well understood yet. Especially, there are few studies declaring detailed behaviors including microcircuits with observing the whole brain simultaneously. We aim to develop effective links at meso-scale pictures connecting between micro- and macro-scales.

脳のマルチスケールな構造と機能の解明
脳では、化学伝達物質のスケールから脳領域のレベルまで、全てのスケールが同時並行して情報を処理しています。残念ながら、現時点では、その異なるスケールがどの様に情報をやりとりしているのかという疑問への回答は十分に得られていません。とりわけ、脳全体を包括的に見るという視点を維持しながらも細胞スケールの詳細に立ち入るという研究は、まだはじまったばかりです。われわれは、可能な方法を総動員し、ミクロとマクロ、そして、それらの中間的スケールの間に何本かの軸を通して、脳の理解を深めるための研究スキームを準備、提案してゆきます。
